Learning & skills
Capabilities that respond to real needs.
ROLE seeks to support vocational education, digital skills, financial literacy, employability skills, leadership and technical training that respond to community and market needs.
Flagship strategic focus
ROLE's strategic direction is increasingly focused on practical, culturally appropriate pathways that allow Afghan women and girls to strengthen knowledge, capabilities, resilience and economic independence.
Our model
We do not believe one training or one distribution creates lasting economic independence.

Learning & skills
ROLE seeks to support vocational education, digital skills, financial literacy, employability skills, leadership and technical training that respond to community and market needs.
Women's economic opportunity
Our approach emphasizes market assessment, business skills, productive assets where justified, mentoring, buyer and customer connections, employment pathways and follow-up on actual income generation.
Practical tailoring insight
A small tailoring initiative operated by Managing Director Ms. Khalila Hussainkhil provides direct insight into what it takes for skills to become income. Training alone is not enough: quality inputs, appropriate equipment, pricing and business knowledge, customers, market access and continued mentoring matter.
Market-first principle
Tailoring is not treated as a default solution. ROLE supports vocational pathways where local market demand and realistic income potential justify them.

Beyond tailoring
Depending on market evidence and community demand, future women-focused livelihood pathways may include:
Leadership & participation
ROLE seeks to strengthen women's confidence, knowledge, leadership capability and meaningful participation within families and communities. Previous work with female school teachers and principals provides a documented foundation for future leadership programming.
Partner with ROLE
ROLE welcomes collaboration with foundations, UN agencies, international NGOs, research institutions, technical organizations and responsible businesses.
